03 & 04 November
after a good night at the Premier Inn we got the bus to Heathrow airport.

We flew with Quatar airlines from Heathrow to Doha.

Comfy seats and pleasant flight.

After a 6 hour flight we landed at Doha and had a two hour break. Doha airport is enormous and a large choice of food outlets. We had already eaten on the plane so had a wander and with time to spare decided on a glass of wine. It was somewhere around midnight! Well that was an expensive glass of wine!!! Thirty euros for one glass of red and one glass of white.

Onto our next flight. Much smaller seats and an older plane. An eight hour flight with food served that was not in our timeline….dinner at 3am!!!! We managed some sleep and arrived at 2.30pm local time. The hotel sent a car to pick us up at the airport. So pleased I wasn’t driving. Tuk tuks come in all directions, motor bikes join the fight for front of que.

Road junctions don’t bear thinking about. Everyone goes in all directions. we arrived at the hotel safely and the bell boy came to the car to load our rucksacks onto the luggage trailer. All was very smooth booking in to the Okay Boutique. Our room was very spacious and the bathroom 10 times bigger than we have at home.

Sounds amazing already. Love the photo, my kind of driving. X
LEARNT TO CRWe all have dreams…. Some of us are lucky to have them come true.
Paul and myself have talked of travelling to the other side of the world and seeing some of the places that most people only ever see in photos. Time is ticking on for us and the thought of not retiring from work until maybe we are 70 years old made us make a life changing decision.
We will not wait until we retire too old and unfit to travel. We will do it this year!!!!
And so our story begins…… At the age of 64years, let’s do the long haul trips while we can. Maybe Australia and New Zealand stopping off somewhere on the way home. Let’s ask for 3 months off work.
After consultation with the Trustees at work we were granted the three months off work and the planning began.
