Feeling sad to leave such a friendly country. Everyone we have met has been so helpful and so friendly. The Staff at the Balconitel Hotel have wanted to chat with us as they say it helps improve their english. We have spent many conversations with the barman while Paul drinks cocktails and I sip water (trying to control the trots!!). We have learnt a lot of their history and also how the people strive to better themselves.
Today we fly to Vietnam. We do not arrive at our hotel until late this evening.
We have two days to sight seeing around Hanoi before joining a tour, which we booked through STA Travel in Leicester.
The tour sounds very exciting with overnight train journeys, staying in the homes of local people, a night on a junk boat in Halong Bay and travelling from north to south over 15 days. Apologies now if we do not keep up to date with this blog but we are not expecting internet for several days.

You must now be in Vietnam. I really enjoyed the railway pictures in Phnom Penh. Like Dorothy I have had the atlas out to look at your route & that in itself is a first as the old atlas hasn’t had an outing for a while!!!!!
Yes, must meet up & it wouod be good if Dorothy could meet too. I quite understand that although you were at Malvern the time is short & goes much too quickly!
