We left home at 7.30am to deliver Murphy (our new puppy) to family for his holiday.
Our journey to Birmingham airport was easy following the M42 all the way.
We used a new car park company, Express Car Parks, which is based on the edge of the NEC car parks. Very easy access and smooth operation to park the car and wait at the bus stop. Bus arrived within minutes and a 15 minute ride took us to Airport Departures.
We had arrived in plenty of time so went into Costa Coffee for a breakfast bun and tea/coffee..
Checking in was easy and soon we were in the departure lounge. It was very busy there and the cafes/bars were packed. We found a seat in Wetherspoons, sharing a table with a young lad who was flying to Dublin and had a five hour delay. We spent the next hour and half sitting chatting with him, learning that he was only going for the weekends to play an annual football match. The rest of his team has flown from Manchester and were already sampling the beers of Dublin.
Once our gate was open there was the usual English queue but it moved smoothly and soon we were in our seats. We then had a delay as there was a problem with the luggage in the hold. The captain of the plane went out to investigate and announced we should be on our way in ten minutes. In total it was a thirty minute delay but the Captain made up for time on the flight. A smooth journey except for a little bit of turbulence as we passed over the Alps.
Our only complaint with Jet2 is that the seats were not the most comfortable. They needed more padding in the seat part.
Once landed in Cyprus, again it was all smooth and we soon found our coach in the car park. Approximately an hours journey and we arrived at our hotel. We were the only guests to get off for this hotel.
Hotel Mimosa in Protaras has a lovely entrance up some steps with Mimosas growing along the sides. Near the top is an abundance of colour from the Borganvillia . The gentleman in Reception was very welcoming (it was now passed midnight). He led us to our room, taking my suitcase for me.
It was still very warm, around 28 degrees and with nothing to drink we headed to the bar which was still open. The barman was very chatty and told us about the resort. It apparent that the bar is open until the last customer leaves. It was now 1am and it had been a very long day and we were happy to head to bed.
