We woke to a beautiful blue sky and the sun already shining. Breakfast over in the restaurant and we headed out to walk to the left of the complex, an area we haven’t yet explored.
The sea is so beautifully warm to walk in and the tide was going out. With this there are lots of fresh shells appearing at the tide line. I have collected a few but I could have taken so many. Beautiful colours and shapes that we certainly don’t see in the UK.
We walked past all the local bars and restaurants and slowly they became more and more spaced out. We past a complex that is probably 4star accommodation with beautiful glass fronted apartments overlooking the swimming pool that was edged with mown ‘grass’ before dropping away to the beach.
Towards the end of the bay there are no restaurants and we passed a flock of birds that looked like waders but they were sunning themselves on the beach.
The last two buildings on the beach were very roughly made shacks, one with hammocks for resting in and the other with some antique looking deckchairs. We chose the deckchairs and sat under a sun umbrella to enjoy an iced mango juice.
It was a lovely walk back to the bungalow collecting even more shells.
On our return we sat on the balcony and read our books before I treated myself to a manicure and pedicure. This was done at the massage centre nearest to the Bungalows. I have never before been asked to lay down while having such treatments. It was lovely laying there watching the sun go slowly down and darkness fall over the beach.
This is when the beach comes alive and the restaurants move their tables and chairs right out onto the beach and light up their areas with coloured lights. Some of the bars put our bean bags to sit on while others have platforms and even tree houses where you lay on the floor or sit propped up with cushions. Everything is very relaxed.
Our final dinner in Koh Lanka just had to be in the restaurant of the Green Chilli Bungalows. Yet another delicious home cooked meal. Whilst eating we were treated to an amazing thunder storm with lightening breaking across the sea in a very dramatic way.
It is with great sadness that tomorrow we leave early in the morning and have to say goodbye to the friendly, helpful staff at Green Chilli Bungalows and Restaurant.
This is somewhere to be recommended. It really is a piece of paradise.
